WELCOME TO
Motheo Resources Pty Ltd is a consulting company focusing on the development of township and rural communities. The company was established in 2018 by a qualified Town and Regional Planner whose passion is in community development and the co-creation of communities. Motheo offers co-creation and shared-value solutions to the mining, construction, government and non-government entities.
The company employs a community-driven approach which seeks to maximise the development potential of an area and its residents in four ways.
Physically: through spatial planning and infrastructure development processes that create a conducive environment for people to “live, work and play”.
Institutionally: through community and political buy-in and partnerships; and ensuring alignment with government policies and development frameworks such as the Integrated Development Plan (IDP), Spatial Development Framework (SDF), Local Economic Development (LED) Strategies, etc.
Economically: through local enterprise and supplier development, skills development, job creating and income generating projects.
Socially: through the facilitation of corporate social investment initiatives, collaboration with community self-help groups and NGOs.
About the Founder
Maggie Madidimetse is a qualified Town and Regional Planner with more than 10 years experience in the development field. Maggie co-founded one of Nedbank’s Implementation Agents namely; Ranyaka Community Transformation, a spatial planning non-profit organisation based in Stellenbosch with a footprint of 8 provinces in South Africa.
During her time as an assistant lecturer at the University of Pretoria, Maggie led the stakeholder engagement team responsible for the Hatfield Campus Village project. This co-creation project was recognised by the Gauteng Premier in 2018 as ”Golden standard” for social transformation and building safer communities.
Maggie’s passion for area-based spatial and community development led her to several rural and township areas of the country. She has been involved in over 30 community-based projects which are yielding the development of community infrastructure worth over 600 million today. Maggie believes in the transformation of South Africa’s most neglected communities through the collaboration of its government, its people and private sector.
The aim is not to do great things, but to do small things in a great way… from the township of Mamelodi East in Gauteng to the mining village of Tsitsing in Rustenburg, one community at a time.
